The project involved significant internal alteration works to the existing 1920s Baroque style Department Store, originally built for Lewis's, but currently owned and traded by Primark.

The building comprises six storeys above ground, with two levels of basement, and occupies a prominent site in the centre of Manchester.  Tram lines pass around two sides of the building, with neighbouring buildings and public highway to other areas.

An extensive programme of concrete repairs was carried out, along with stone and leadwork repairs to the building facade and large areas of demolition through all levels.

All works were carried out in a live trading environment, with phased works and handovers.
